Palisade

Palisade is Colorados Wine Country!

Tucked into the base of the famous Mt. Garfield and The Grand Mesa, this small and charming town is one of our favorites! Fruit, wine, spirits, food, marijuana and adventure are the name of the game in Palisade!

Agriculture seems to run in the blood of people here and both the soil and climate are happy to oblige.  We call it the banana belt – and while bananas aren’t grown here, the landscape on the valley floor is fruit orchards, greenhouses and vineyards as far as the eye can see. The orchard blossoms in the spring are breathtaking!   

Wine tourism is wonderful here! Take off on your own with a designated driver, rent a limo, or rent electric-assist cruisers with baskets to make your way around the Fruit and Wine Byway loop. Many of the wineries even have dinner events and music in the vines. 

Palisade is the only community in the valley that has recreational and medicinal marijuana shops. Most are located near downtown and within walking distance of the Wine Country Cottage. Consume responsibly… this isn’t the same ol’ weed everyone used to have.  It packs a serious punch and serves up a lot of laughs.

If that isn’t enough, don’t forget to look up!  Because some serious adventure exists here too!  Palisade is home of the ‘now being built’ Palisade Plunge, an epic 40+ mile mountain bike descent from the top of the Grand Mesa to the Palisade Valley floor.  Or, if keeping your feet on the ground is more your speed, a must-do on the seasoned hiker list is a climb to the top of the famous Mt. Garfield.  Or if something milder is your flavor, the Palisade Rim multi-use trail will reward you with petroglyphs and views you won’t soon forget!  SUP and kayak lovers will really enjoy a mild run of the Colorado River to cool off in the summer.

Palisade is a super fun town with tons of activities to keep you and your crew entertained!  We love it so much, you will often find us out there adventuring, pedaling, paddling and touring.  Palisade really serves it up, you are going to have a great time here!
